Free Online Guitar Tuner

Tune your guitar by ear with your microphone — accurate to the cent, right in your browser. No app, no sign-up. Supports standard E, Drop D, Eb, D standard, Drop C, Open G/D, DADGAD and bass tunings.

connect your guitar and play a string
Tip: for low latency use an audio interface. Pluck one string at a time; the closest target lights up — turn the peg until it turns green (±5 cents).

How to tune your guitar

Allow microphone access, pick your tuning, then play one open string at a time. The tuner detects the pitch and shows the nearest target note with a needle: turn the tuning peg until the needle centres and turns green (within ±5 cents). For best accuracy play in a quiet room and let each string ring.

Standard tuning (E A D G B E)

Standard tuning, low to high, is E2 · A2 · D3 · G3 · B3 · E4. From there you can drop to Drop D (low string to D), tune down a semitone to Eb/half-step, or use alternate tunings like Drop C, Open G, Open D and DADGAD — all selectable above. Bass tunings are included too.

Your audio never leaves your device — the pitch is detected locally in your browser and nothing is recorded or uploaded. When you're in tune, plug in and play real songs →

Frequently asked questions

Is this guitar tuner free?

Yes — it's 100% free, with no sign-up, download or app. It runs entirely in your browser.

Do I need a microphone?

Yes. The tuner listens to your guitar through your device's microphone (or an audio interface). Allow mic access when prompted. Nothing is recorded — the pitch is analysed locally.

What tunings can I use?

Standard E, Drop D, Eb/half-step down, D standard, Drop C, Open G, Open D, DADGAD and bass tunings — pick one from the selector and the tuner targets those notes.

How accurate is it?

It detects pitch to within a few cents and shows a needle; it turns green when you're within ±5 cents of the target note.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, it works in mobile browsers. For the lowest latency on any device, use an audio interface rather than the built-in mic.
